aint nothin gonna slow me down...

You know the song that goes "aint nothing gonna break my stride, aint nothin gonna slow me down, no no..."? Well this song has been in my head all week for 2 reasons. 1. The flu was SO MUCH better than we thought it would be and Buxton's fever broke Sat. night. By Sunday he was fine! Catching it early and starting the Tamiflu definitely contributed to Buxton getting better so quickly. OK now # 2. Buxton is army crawling all over the place and is loving this new found freedom of being mobile. He's doing the rocking on all 4s but so far no movement on all 4s yet.
Since Buxton was better on Sunday and Ben and I were well too we went to our local pumpkin patch for some fun. Then we went to New Hope Presbyterian Church for their annual Trunk or Treat and dinner/games. See pics below for all the fun we had!

the dreaded diagnosis

yesterday buxton had a pretty high temperature so we took him to the doctor. his flu test came back negative but his symptoms (red eyes, congestion, fever) led to the dreaded diagnosis of swine flu. yup, we have the H1N1. i've been worried about this since the horrible news reports started months ago. and i may feel a little relieved that we are getting it behind us, especially since we caught it early. buxton started tamiflu last night and my dr. promises that this flu won't be nearly as bad as i think. she stated that the media has us all "swine flu crazed" -cause that is what the media does best right! when buxton isn't sleeping he's pretty irritable and we are having to keep tylenol in him to stave off the 103 fevers. but i'm hopeful this will pass quickly and that by some miracle ben and i don't get it too. thanks for your prayers and have a lovely weekend. kristin

I've been slack with posting good stuff but with good reason. My job has had me stressed like I've never been before and I don't think my post-partum hormonal state has contributed much good to that. I've been trying to figure out how to manage routine exercise while getting all my bank work done and taking care of Buxton by myself 5 nights a week while Ben is at work and also very busy with his caterings lately. I was able to do it (baby pooch eliminating crunches) after work while Buxton played on the floor next to me, that is until he officially became mobile and is army crawling all over the place. So now I'm thinking that exercise really needs to happen at 6am but I will be VERY proud of myself if this even occurs once. So our life has been full of figuring out how to manage everything on our plates and I'm happy to be in a bit of a more calm place right now. I have a few pics to share....first from my Mom's 60th birthday celebration. She doesn't look a day over 35!

And of course I have to throw in a few pics of sweet Buxton and his army crawling self.

7 months and a mohawk

Since I didn't take any pics when Buxton turned 7 months I thought it was the perfect opportunity to capture this age when he came home from daycare with a perfectly styled mohawk thanks to some of the girls there. It was hilarious...see for yourself:
