Memorial Day Weekend

Every Memorial Day we have friends over to have some fun in the sun. Here are a few pics from Memorial Day 2008.

I also think it's important to value the significance of the day. I don't know many Americans that have served in the Armed Forces and defended our freedom but I sure am proud to know the ones that I do. So I'd like to take a minute to say thanks to all the troops that so selflessly go to work everyday for the benefit of everyone that lives in this country.

The Garden

We have been so busy in the yard that I am not finding much time for posts. But here are some pics of the yard and projects we finally finished. The screen porch has a new coat of paint and new screen. The storage building out back was magically transformed from an eye-sore to a pretty cool structure thanks to a paint color called "crocodile green". I am hoping the ramp gets a fresh coat of this same color soon so it blends in a little better. However it's hard to make such a large structure "blend in". Check out the snake skin hanging from the swing in one of the pics. I found it hanging in one of our trees close to the storage building and it is from a 4 ft black snake. We are happy to have this snake living in our yard because he will eat any Copperheads that are nearby! Too bad he won't help with the Coyotes!

My Mom and I got some QT with my nephew, Tanner, on a Mothers Day trip to Boone this past weekend. He is such a great kid and check it out...he can skateboard! And he was very insistent that I make sure Ben sees these pics of him.

The Goslines Visit

Every time Ben's sister, Carla, and her husband, Ed, and their daughter, Grace, come to NC for a visit we enjoy every minute of the time we spend with them. They live in Alabama and that seems sooo far away most of the time. This weekend was special for them because it was Carla and Ed's 8th wedding anniversary! Awesome right! And what is even more of a blessing is that Ed was supposed to be in Iraq but at the last minue didn't have to go (praise the Lord). So Saturday evening I had the honor of being Grace's 1st ever baby-sitter and we had the best time. After playing in my old and very cool doll house we went to the fish camp to eat with Uncle Ben. Then Grace took a bath in our big tub...but wasn't very fond of the jets. After a visit from Grandma Carolyn and Grandpa Jimmy we read some books and Grace quickly fell asleep. It was just precious. Here are a few pics I took from our night together. Ben and I are so blessed to have this little angel as our niece.
