6 months

On Wednesday Buxton turned 6 months old. Yeah! Hard to believe it's been 6 months already but it has and according to his measurements he's trying to grow up faster than normal. He's in the 75th percentile for weight and height and is 19lbs...oh my! This explains why I'm 3 lbs from my pre-preggers weight since I've barely been exercising.

I wish this milestone was a bit happier but poor lil man has an ear and sinus infection and also had to get shots today. I shouldn't mention that his circumcision had to also get "adjusted" which I think was the worst part of the Dr. visit. What a day for my sweet baby. I bought him a "baby crack" Elmo video to make him feel better, which is how I'm able to write when he's this sick. The video is really for our trip to the OBX in a week -BUXTON to be specific. It can't come soon enough! Buxton's 1st trip to the town he was named after. Can you stand it?

My dear friend and amazing photographer Sunday will be doing a family shoot for us and I am sooo excited about this. She's truly gifted with her camera and the beach setting and the fact that she knows us will be an added bonus. It is going to be great to have good pics of my family, who are the light of my life and the essence of my heart.

Buxton and Wynn's Dedication

Last Sunday was a big day for Buxton and Wynnie. Months ago Jenn and I decided that we wanted to have our kids dedicated together. We thought it would be a special experience for them to grow up knowing they did together. For those that aren't familiar with dedication, it is the same principal as baptism but the concept is that the parents are openly and outwardly stating that they will raise their child as a child of Christ. That their actions will be in pursuit of that child's relationship with our Father God and Jesus. Then one day when the child is old enough to acknowledge his or her faith in God they can choose to be baptized.

Jenn and I felt that if we do this together then we will be more supportive of each other in devoting time to educate Wynnie and Buxton on God's love for them.

my lil man

i haven't kept up with posting pics of buxton very well recently because i've been thoroughly enjoying him and also juggling my job in corporate america but here are a few of my recent favs. the first is his first time eating cereal. he inhaled it and made me realize that i shouldn't have waited so long to give him food. now he's eating 3 meals a day and we are amazed by his appetite. i've been making most of his food and he loves veggies. thats my lil man!

a glimpse in to the future

Yesterday Ben's sister, Carla, was going through an old chest of their Grandmother's and came across tons of old family photos. We were all really excited about everything she found, especially since we didn't think there were any pictures still in good shape of Ben from when he was an infant. Seeing these pictures confirms that Buxton very much takes after his Dad in looks (which I'm very happy about). See below for the resemblance and what a cutie Ben was as a child.

This is Buxton's Uncle Ed. He is also the Daddy to our niece, Grace, and husband to Ben's sister, Carla. He is an AWESOME husband, daddy and uncle. He is also defending our freedom in Afghanistan right now and will be there for 6 months. We will miss him dearly while he's gone, especially over the holidays. We pray for his safe return and for Carla and Grace to get through these next 6 months as best as possible. Please pray for all of them!

the silver bullet is reborn

For those of you who knew me in high school this post will mean the most to you.

My first car was an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, 2 door, silver, and the least desirable car a teenage girl could own. But it got me from A to B and served it's purpose. We called it the Silver Bullet. It barely pushed 50 so the name made no sense but nonetheless it was still the Silver Bullet. Today I bought a Nissan Quest. Yes I now drive a minivan. Yes it is silver. No I'm not pregnant again. Here's a pic (and the tip of Ben's finger):

On another note I want to verbally PRAISE GOD for the progress Libby Claire has made and all the hearts she has touched. This precious child has touched more lives in 20 months than most of us could dream of in a lifetime. This is the plan He had for her from before she was created. I just can't help but wonder how much more she is going to accomplish in her lifetime. Within a year Libby Claire should be back to normal and this seems to be nothing short of a miracle. Since Matt and Elizabeth have let us all in on this major struggle in their life it gives us hope because they have remained stronger than ever in their faith. We've seen God's power and love 1st hand, and we've actually felt it. God's work and purpose is so much more intricate than we can ever imagine but in this situation His purpose has been revealed.
